The Quincy Exchange Club has named Army Specialist Daniel Bowe of Quincy.

Bowe is currently hospitalized in Germany for injuries he received while serving in Afghanistan.

Bowe's parents Jim and Sue accepted the award on his behalf.

Bowe was nominated for assisting an injured driver following an encounter with Afghan insurgents that caused one vehicle in his unit to drive off an embankment. Bowe was injured when a helicopter approached too closely to the rescue scene, sending up a cloud of dirt and causing Bowe to fall.
