Staff Sgt. Robert Billings was named the Quincy Exchange Club's Service Person of the Year Friday night as the service club kicked off its Smoke on the River barbecue celebration.

The Exchange Club honored Billings and other veterans Friday night on the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Billings served three tours in Iraq over the last five and a half years. He was a lead gun truck driver and spent two tours as a combat escort commander.
